Ranunculus

Overview:

The ranunculus flower, known for its brilliantly colored and layered paper-like petals, is a favorite in gardens and floral arrangements. Originating from the Mediterranean region, these blooms thrive in well-drained soil and full sunlight. They come in a spectrum of colors, including Purple, yellows, pink, blush, whites, and more. Often symbolizing spring and abundance, ranunculus flowers are popular choices for weddings and romantic bouquets. They are relatively easy to grow, for a stunning rose-like flower in early spring.

Starting seeds:

We typically do not start our ranunculus from seed, we like to get corms and start them that way.

Please refer to the pre-sprout guide for ranunculus & anemones for more growing information.

When to plant outdoors:

October and November are ideal planting times, but they can be planted up until the end of the year in warm climates. Spring plant in colder zones ( 8 & lower)

Fertilizing:

Ranunculus are heavy feeders. Give High nitrogen fertilizer to encourage growth in young plants. Weekly liquid fertilizing is also advised for optimal blooms. My favorite liquid fertilizer here.

Favorite varieties:

La Belle ‘Champagne’ offers a beautiful rusty orange color. Very popular color amongst florists.

Amandine ‘Cream’ is a beautiful pale yellow ranunculus that offers a great pastel color to any cut flower or cottage garden. Perfect addition to an Easter bouquet!

Ranunculus ‘Chamallow’ is a beautiful large pastel pink flower. They are one of the biggest ranunculus we grow in terms of flower size. Petals on petals that are absolutely stunning.

Amandine ‘white’ offers a clean classic take on the ranunculus flower. Perfect for wedding bouquets or any romantic occasion. They can be added to your spring moon garden for a beautiful rose-like flower.

Ranunculus amandine ‘Purple Jean’ always remind of the classic Prince song ‘Purple Rain’. Delicate fluffy purple petals make up a gorgeous spring flower.

Ranunculus Amandine ‘Porcelaine’ offers a beautiful blush- pink mix. Some of the blush has a pastel cream color with hints of yellow for that true porcelain color.

Butterfly ranunculus’Helios’ is a stunning butter cream color that offers a branching habit to the plant. They get much taller than a typical ranunculus and wider spreading. Pot a cove has two planted corms in them.

Butterfly Ranunculus ‘Adriande’ is a bicolor flower that goes from a pink to blush. Beautiful for wedding work as well as the home garden.

Our annual corm sale will be this fall, in early September so stay tuned!
